NASHIN Brake Rotors

NASHIN Brake Rotors | FAQ

To help you get the most out of your NASHIN high-performance Car Brake Discs / Brake Rotors, we've put together this FAQ covering purchasing, installation, use, and safety.

1. How do I pick the right NASHIN brake rotors for my car?

A: Getting the right fit is the first step to unlocking peak performance and safety. You'll need to shop based on your car's make, model, and year . You can use the vehicle filter on our product pages or just contact one of our authorized dealers with your car's info. They'll hook you up with the perfect set of rotors for a guaranteed fit.

2. Can I install NASHIN brake rotors myself (DIY)?

A: We strongly recommend having a certified professional mechanic do the installation. Your brake system is the most critical safety feature on your car. A bad install—like using the wrong torque specs, not resetting the caliper pistons, or failing to clean the wheel hub—can cause vibrations, noise, or even brake failure. A pro install is the only way to ensure your NASHIN products work flawlessly and safely.

3. Do my new rotors and pads need a "break-in" period? How do I do it?

A: Absolutely. A proper break-in (also called "bedding-in") is key to unleashing the full power of your NASHIN rotors. It transfers an even layer of friction material from the pads to the rotors, giving you a better bite and preventing vibration issues down the road.

Recommended Break-in Procedure:

  1. Get your car up to about 40-50 MPH.

  2. Apply firm, steady pressure to the brakes to slow down to about 10-15 MPH. Don't come to a complete stop.

  3. Repeat this process 8-10 times.

  4. After the last cycle, drive around for another 10-15 minutes, trying to use the brakes as little as possible so they can cool down naturally. Avoid parking the car right away or splashing them with water while they're hot.

4. What kind of brake pads should I use?

A: For the best performance and wear, we recommend pairing our rotors with NASHIN high-performance brake pads. If you go with another brand, make sure their temperature range and friction material are compatible with our FC250 rotors. Using super-aggressive track pads for daily driving can wear out your rotors faster and create a lot of noise.

5. How do I know when it's time to replace my brake rotors?

A: Besides the obvious signs like deep grooves, cracks, or warping, the most important thing to check is the thickness . Every NASHIN rotor is stamped with "MIN THK XX.X mm" (Minimum Thickness) on the edge of the hub. Have your mechanic measure them during regular service. If the thickness is at or near that minimum number, it's time for a new set, no exceptions.

6. I hear some noise after installing my new rotors. Is that normal?

A: During the break-in period, it's normal to hear some light scraping or "whooshing" sounds as the new pads and rotor surfaces get to know each other. This should go away once they're fully bedded-in. However, if you hear a constant, high-pitched squeal, a loud grinding noise, or a "clunking" sound, pull over safely and get your brakes checked by a pro immediately.

7. My floating rotors make a slight rattling noise when the car is cold. Is something wrong?

A: Nope, that's completely normal and a sign that your NASHIN floating rotors are working as designed. The "floating" design allows the outer rotor ring to expand with heat, preventing the stress that causes standard rotors to warp. That small gap, which causes the slight rattle when cold, is essential for handling extreme temperatures without distortion. Drive with confidence.

8. How should I clean and maintain my brake rotors?

A: When you wash your car, it's fine to use a pH-neutral car soap and water to rinse off the brake dust and grime from your rotors and calipers. Crucially, never spray cold water on hot rotors; the sudden temperature change can cause them to warp. Also, never use any oily or corrosive chemical cleaners on the rotor surface. This can contaminate the rotor and pads and lead to brake failure.

9. Are NASHIN brake rotors good for track days?

A: You bet. NASHIN rotors are engineered for superior performance and durability. Our patented cooling-vane structures and high-carbon alloy materials are built to handle the intense heat of track driving, giving you consistent and reliable stopping power, lap after lap. If you're a serious track enthusiast, we recommend checking out our full-floating or higher-tier competition rotors and pairing them with appropriate track pads.

10. What are some warning signs that my brake system has a problem?

A: Safety first. If you experience any of the following, get your brake system inspected by a professional right away:

  • A major vibration or judder in the steering wheel or chassis when braking.

  • The brake pedal feels spongy, soft, or goes too close to the floor.

  • The car pulls to one side when you brake.

  • The brake warning light comes on in your dash.

  • You hear any persistent grinding, squealing, or other unusual noises.
